W.J.Hatt Limited was established by Jack Hatt in 1937. Originally concentrating on agricultural contract work, the firm has over the years expanded into land drainage, water supply, lakes and ponds together with the controlled demolition of structures ranging from towers to motorway bridges.
In 1976 having gained experience in many fields of civil engineering, both in the UK and abroad, Mark Hatt joined the company. Upon Jack's retirement in the mid-1990s, Mark took over running the business together with his wife Pauline, who has experience in both horticulture and landscaping.
In 2011 after working in the South-West of England for a major groundwork's firm, dealing in a range of fields including foundation concreting, drainage, road construction, and landscaping, their son Oliver has become the third generation to join the company.
The company operates mainly in the Home Counties, using it's own equipment operated by permanent long-term staff.
Work includes the construction of ponds and lakes either into clay, the water table, or through using impermeable liners such as butyl or puddled clay.
